Patient Experience Fellowship
This fellowship offers the opportunity to contribute to advancing patient experience while building skills, relationships, and insight that extend beyond the role.

Responsibilities
- Manage manuscript submissions and peer review workflows
- Communicate with authors and peer reviewers
- Monitor the JPX Fellow email account
- Assign peer reviewers based on topic expertise
- Review submissions for alignment with journal aims, scope, and article types
- Support administrative and operational journal tasks
- Manage JPX LinkedIn presence
- Conduct online research to support journal initiatives
Qualifications
- Experience in patient experience or a related healthcare field
- Master's degree or higher in a relevant discipline
- Foundational knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods
- Strong written communication skills
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Interest in academic publishing and peer review
- Ability to identify appropriate peer reviewers
- Familiarity with or interest in LinkedIn/social media management
- Ability to conduct online research
- Demonstrated interest in patient experience and scholarly communication
Time commitment
- Approximately 10 hours per week (virtual, flexible)
- Regular engagement with email and journal systems (several days per week)
- Six (6) month appointment, with option to extend
Compensation
This fellowship offers a very modest stipend, with primary compensation in the form of mentorship, experience, and professional development. The role is best suited for those able to participate in a largely volunteer capacity. Applicants are encouraged to share any financial considerations in their application.

Peer Review Board
Membership is ideal for clinicians, researchers, patient and family representatives, administrators, and professionals with expertise in patient experience, communication, quality, safety, equity, digital health, or related fields. Members help maintain the scientific rigor and clarity of JPX submissions by conducting thoughtful, constructive, and timely peer reviews. This board is foundational to our mission — ensuring that every published article supports real-world improvement in health and care experiences. This role is well-suited for professionals seeking to deepen their scholarly skills, contribute to the field, and engage with an active community of reviewers worldwide.
Editorial Leadership Board
Members serve as a strategic advisory group composed of senior leaders, experienced scholars, and recognized experts in patient experience and healthcare transformation. Members serve as thought partners to the Editor-in-Chief — shaping journal priorities, identifying emerging trends, guiding special collections, supporting equity initiatives, and strengthening JPX's global impact. Editorial Leadership Board members also serve as part of the Peer Review Board, offering senior-level reviews for select manuscripts. This board is ideal for established leaders and seasoned scholars committed to shaping the future of patient experience scholarship and influencing the journal's long-term vision.
